SULAIMANI (ESTA) — A high Iraqi Security delegation arrived in Zakho northwest of Duhok province on Tuesday morning, the country’s security media cell said.
The delegation was led by the deputy commander of the joint operations between Erbil and Baghdad, according to the Iraqi security media cell.
“The objective is to investigate Turkey’s attacks”, and “visiting the headquarter of Iraq’s border guard brigade as well as assessing the security situation between the Turkish borders and The Iraqi borders,” it said.
Turkey’s military operations deep into Iraq’s territory have always sparked conflict between the officials in both Ankara and Baghdad.
The country’s presence on Iraq’s soil backs to a deep-rooted conflict with Kurdistan Worker’s Party (PKK), which Turkey considers the group as a critical threat to its national security.
Earlier on Monday, Iraq’s defense minister Jumah Inad said in a press interview that Iraq demanded Turkey pull out its forces but the country does not comply with the demand.
