Vengeance took from Islamic State terrorists: Kurdistan Region Security Council

SULAIMANI (ESTA) — The Kurdistan Region Security Council (KRSC) said on Thursday that it avenged the martyr of 10 Kurdish Peshmerga fighters along with three brothers who were martyred amid the Islamic State (IS) attack last year in Makmour.

On the late night of December 2, 2021, the (IS) terrorists attacked Khdrjija village in Makmour district of Erbil province, ending with the martyr of 10 Peshmerga and three brothers of one family.

However, the terrorists paid the cost of what they did after the (KRSC) revealed in a statement that vengeance has taken saying, “Two of the militants who supervised the attack were eliminated along with three other militants”.

“The militants were hiding inside the jurisdiction of the Iraqi government but with the coordination with the Iraqi forces, their location was exposed and eliminated,” it said.

In 2017 Iraq declared victory over the Islamic State that used to control 40 percent of the country’s territory throughout 2014, including controlling its second largest city (Mousl).

But still many remnants of (IS) operating in what so known as the disputed areas between the Kurdistan Region government and the federal, the area suffers from an obvious security gap which has been always utilized by the terrorists to carry out their attacks.
