Dust storm covers Iraq during Eid al-Adha: weather forecast board

SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Iraq’s weather forecast board announced on Thursday the forecasts for Eid al-Adha days, accordingly another dust storm will engulf the country.   

In a statement, the board said, “On Friday, July 8, the temperatures will remain steady, and a light dust wave will hit the country including the Kurdistan Region”.

However, next Saturday “The dust will become more intensive throughout Iraq which also marks the first day of Eid al-Adha as well,” it said.

“Meanwhile on Sunday the temperatures will rise by 1 or 2 degrees, and the light dust will remain” it added.

Iraq has been battered with severe dust waves since the early spring of 2022, causing the hospitalization of thousands of people and halted airport flights several times. In the meantime, it’s the third connective year of drought in Iraq.

Despite the concerns about environmental issues among the locals, political instability inside the country has worsened the situation twice.
