SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Head of Iraq’s National Wisdom Movement Ammar al-Hakim Said on Wednesday that we need former Iraqi President Mam Jalal’s perspective of politics, “we are sure that the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) continue with this path.”
Amidst a meeting with PUK President Bafel Jalal Talabani in Baghdad, al-Hakim spoke importantly about Talabani’s position and efforts to bring the parties closer together and form the government, Talabani’s media office said in a statement.
The statement further added that the head of the National Wisdom Movement said, the PUK is a powerful and effective force, which history has proven. “It played a significant role in confronting dictatorship, it has quite a presence in political events.”
“Departed leader President Mam Jalal had gathered everyone under the umbrella of wisdom, he brought Iraq into a new phase of harmony and coexistence. Therefore we need the same policy, and we are sure that PUK continues with this path” al-Hakim said according to the statement.
Talabani made a surprise visit to Baghdad late on Tuesday, aimed to hold a series of talks and meetings with Iraq’s political parties regarding the formation of the new government that has been postponed for almost nine-month since the last early election due to political disagreement between the parties.
