Turkish warplanes bomb ‘Derluk’ resort vicinity in Kurdistan Region

SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Turkish warplanes planes bombed Deraluk resort of Amedi district in Duhok province, Esta reporter said on Monday.

Despite the presence of local tourists in the area, the Turkish warplanes carried out an airstrike on Deraluk Sub-district, however, it did not cause any casualties but fear and panic widely spread among the civilians, according to the reporter.

“The Turkish aircraft targeted the Kurdistan Worker’s Party (PKK) positions in the Amedi vicinity,” he said.

Turkey continues to target PKK’s position in the Kurdistan Region. PKK’s presence in the region is back to a deep-rooted conflict with Turkey which is mainly based in the southeast of the country.

The PKK has been waging an insurgency in Turkey since 1984 in which more than 40,000 people have been killed.
