Iran executed 12 Kurdish prisoners in May – watchdog

SULAIMANI (ESTA) — At least 12 Kurdish prisoners were executed in Iran last May, Said Hengaw watchdog for human rights on Wednesday.

Human rights violation data in Rojhalat has indicated, that at least 12 Kurdish prisoners were executed, and three other Kolbars were killed as well, Hengew organization for human rights reported.

Among the executed Kurdish prisoners, eight of them had been accused of homicide the three others of drug substance offenses, according to the watchdog.

“Another prisoner who was from Kermanshah died in suspicious incident after being released from jail, throughout a short while,” it said.

Nearly 18 Kolbars were victimized by the Iranian border guards’ fire, among them three deaths were reported as the result.

Kolbars carry goods across the mountainous border between Iran, Iraq, and Turkey on their backs. They frequently come under fire from Iranian border guards and suffer from severe injuries and even fatalities.
