Three rockets fired toward Turkish military base in Nineveh – reporter

SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Zlikan military base, which hosts Turkish troops in the sub-district of Bashiqa, northeast of Mosul, have been struck by rockets late on Friday, Esta Media Network has learned.

Esta’s reporter in Duhok said, late on Friday night three rockets were fired toward Zlikan military base.

The rockets were landed outside the base with no casualties and no group has claimed the responsibility yet, according to the reporter.

Turkey established dozens of military bases in the Kurdistan Region aims to support its operations against the Kurdistan Worker’s Party (PKK) which Turkey, the United States, and the European Union classify as a terrorist group.

The PKK took up arms against the Turkish state in 1984. More than 40,000 people have been killed in the conflict, which in the past was mainly focused in southeast Turkey.
