Senior PKK member Selman Bozkur (R) who was killed in a Turkish strike

SULAIMANI (ESTA) — The Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) said on Sunday one of its senior members was killed in a Turkish air strike last year.

In a statement, the PKK committee said Selman Bozkur, also known as Huseyin Akdag, was killed in an air strike carried out by the Turkish military on June 5, 2021.

Turkey regularly conducts airstrikes against the PKK positions on border areas between Turkey and the Kurdistan Region.

The PKK took up arms against the Turkish state in 1984. More than 40,000 people have been killed in the conflict, which in the past was mainly focused in southeast Turkey.
