SULAIMANI (ESTA) — The Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) on Friday denied claims that it fired rockets at an area in Duhok province, which led to the killing of two children.
The counter-terrorism service affiliated with the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) claimed that the PKK had fired two rockets at Aradna village in Bamarni sub-district in Duhok late on Thursday, killing two civilians and wounding two others.
The People’s Defense Forces (HPG), the PKK’s military wing, said its fighters had not shelled areas in the sub-district on Thursday.
“Some KDP officials and media are trying to blame the incident on the guerrillas,” it said in a statement. “This attempt is the result of fear of Kurdish people’s dissatisfaction.”
“The guerrilla forces deal a deadly blow to the Turkish military,” it added, noting Turkey wants to “create chaos and civil war for the Kurds through some forces within the KDP”.
Esta Media Network reporter in Duhok said the two children were killed during Turkish air strikes on the village of Zewa in Bamarni sub-district.
