Iraq logs 2,543 new COVID-19 cases, 49 deaths

SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Iraq recorded 2,543 new COVID-19 cases and 49 deaths on Friday, the health ministry said in a statement.

Iraqi Ministry of Health said it had registered 710 new infections in Baghdad, 302 in Erbil, 230 in Sulaimani, 186 in Duhok, 171 in Diyala, 111 in Nineveh, 109 in Wasit and 108 in Babil.

The ministry further said 96 other cases were in Anbar, 88 in Saladin, 63 in Najaf, 36 in Basra, 31 in Maysan, 20 in Muthanna, 13 in Karbala, 11 in Dhi Qar and 10 in Diwaniyah.

The Iraqi ministry added that 2,904 more patients had recovered from the novel coronavirus over the previous 24 hours.

Iraq’s total number of coronavirus cases reached 531,769, of which 11,883 died and 460,394 recovered, according to the ministry’s figures.
