Over 2.6 million people received coronavirus vaccines in Kurdistan: ministry

SULAIMANI (ESTA) — More than 2.6 million people have received coronavirus vaccines in the Kurdistan Region since last year, the health ministry said.

The ministry of health released data on coronavirus vaccination in the Region on Friday, saying 2,604,841 people had been vaccinated since March 2021.

There are approximately 6 million people in the Kurdistan Region, according to authorities.

As many as 1,104,044 of them had received second dose of the vaccines, it added. Only 25,405 persons were given the third jab.

The ministry further said up to 400,000 vaccination cards had also been issued.

The Kurdistan Region has recorded a total of 436,641 coronavirus infections including 7,439 deaths since the pandemic began in March 2020, according to the ministry’s figures.
