Two civilians killed in ISIS attack in Diyala province – reporter

SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Two civilians were killed in an attack carried out by Islamic State (ISIS) militants in Diyala province late on Tuesday, Esta’s reporter said.

Esta Media Network reporter said the militants used “hit-and-run tactic” when they attacked a house near Qaratapah sub-district in Diyala on Tuesday night.

Two members of a family were killed in the attack, the reporter added.

Separately, another group of ISIS militants attacked the villages of Haftaghaz and Bashir in Kirkuk province, he said. Casualties remained unclear.

Islamic State controlled roughly a third of Iraq between 2014 and 2017. Iraqi forces and Kurdish troops backed by U.S.-led Coalition forces as well as Iran-backed Shia militias defeated the militant group in 2017, but its members still roam areas of northern Iraq and northeastern Syria.
