Kurdish politician detained in Kirkuk – reporter

SULAIMANI (ESTA) — A Kurdish politician was detained in Kirkuk on Wednesday, Esta Media Network reporter said.

The security forces detained an official from the Kurdistan Socialist Democratic Party at a temporary checkpoint in Darwaza neighborhood in Kirkuk, the reporter said.

The reporter added that the official was arrested over “holding a gun”.

Recently, the Iraqi forces have set up checkpoints at several neighborhoods in the city, investigating and inspecting drivers and passengers going through them, according to the reporter.
