Kurdistan Region’s COVID-19 cases reach 89,029

SULAIMANI (ESTA) — The Kurdistan Region’s Ministry of Health said on Saturday that it had recorded 573 new cases of coronavirus, bringing the total number to 89,029.

The health ministry said in a statement that it had registered 161 new cases in Erbil, 102 in Sulaimani, 260 in Duhok, 14 in Halabja, 30 in Garmian and six more in Raparin.

The ministry stated that it had also recorded 27 new deaths over the last 24 hours. Seven deaths were recorded in Erbil, five in Sulaimani, nine in Duhok and six in Raparin, according to the health ministry.

It added that 398 more patients had recovered from the novel coronavirus over the last 24 hours.

The Kurdistan Region’s death toll rose to 2,815, while recoveries reached 54,856.

Earlier on Saturday, the Iraqi health ministry said it had registered 2,419 new COVID-19 infections and 43 deaths. As many as 2,370 patients had recovered from the virus, it added.

So far, Iraq has recorded 516,915 coronavirus cases, with 11,623 deaths and 444,226 recoveries, the ministry’s figures showed.
