SULAIMANI (ESTA) — One person was wounded after a guard of a singer opened fire in a restaurant in Sulaimani city, and police said they detained the suspect.
Esta Media Network reporter Pavel Abdulrahman said tensions broke out between a guard of local singer Shabaz Zamani and guards of four-star Rihana restaurant in Sulaimani city on Wednesday night.
“There were gunshots,” the reporter cited a source as saying.
The reporter further said an employee of the restaurant was wounded from gunshots fired by the singer’s guard.
Meanwhile, Sulaimani police said its units detained a suspect who injured a person in the fighting that took place at Rihana restaurant at 11:45 p.m. Wednesday.
Police also seized a gun used by the 25-year-old suspect.
“After inspecting his residence, two other guns were seized,” police said.
Following the incident, authorities in Sulaimani decided to ban “live music” at the restaurant, saying they received complaints from residents in the area.
“If it doesn’t comply by the decision, legal measures will be taken against it,” the office of Sulaimani’s mayor said in a statement.
