SULAIMANI (ESTA) — The Kurdistan Region’s Ministry of Municipalities and Tourism signed on Sunday a memorandum of understanding with the Association of Netherlands Municipalities (VNG) in Erbil.

Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Minister Sasan Awny said in a press conference that the MoU would be an opportunity for economic development and enhancing relations between the Region and Netherlands.

Awny added that the MoU’s aim was to provide services and assistance to the Kurdistan Region and to strengthen and to support the displaced people settled in the Region.

“By signing this MoU, the relationship between the Region and Dutch government will enter a new and better stage,” the minister added.

He also hoped for more MoU and agreements between the Kurdistan Region and Dutch government as well as the organizations in the future.

“We hope they will play more roles to reconstruct the Kurdistan Region,” he noted.

The VNG has provided support and assistance to the ministry’s departments in Erbil and Duhok in the past, the minister said.
