SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Kurdish security forces have detained two Islamic State (ISIS) suspects in Sulaimani province, authorities said on Thursday.

The directorate of Asayish (security) in Sulaimani released footage of operations carried out by its forces to detain two ISIS suspects in the province.

One of the suspects was detained in poultry farming near Piramagroon, northwest of Sulaimani, it said. The other suspect was detained in Sulaimani city.

“The first suspect had connection with the prisoners in Hasakah and he had continuously provided financial assistance to the terrorists,” it said in a statement, referring to Sina’a-Ghweran prison in the northeastern Syrian city of Hasakah.

“The second suspect was the cousin of Daesh Wali [ISIS-appointed mayor] in Iraq,” Asayish added.

The security forces have detained dozens of ISIS suspects in the Kurdistan Region in the past months.
