SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Police in Erbil closed two more night clubs in the city on Friday night, authorities said.
In a statement, the mayor’s office said police continued a campaign to close night clubs violating instructions in the Region’s capital.
It added that two other night clubs were closed as part of the campaign launched to prevent “the emergence of unwanted incidents and to protect mores”.
“Any place where inappropriate acts are carried out and violate the governorate’s regulations will be closed, and its owner will face severe legal punishment,” it stated.
Last week, police closed two night clubs and arrested 102 men and 77 women in one of the night clubs.
A police source told Esta Media Network that they were detained over “prostitution”.
The detainees are from the Kurdistan Region, Iraq, Syria and Iran, according to the police source.
