SULAIMANI (ESTA) — The Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) politburo will hold a meeting chaired in Kirkuk on Monday, a source told Esta Media Network.
Members of the PUK politburo will meet in Kirkuk city on Monday morning, the source who spoke under condition of anonymity said, noting that Bafel Jalal Talabani will supervise the meeting.
“The latest security and political developments in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region will be discussed,” the source added.
The PUK politburo will also discuss the formation of a new Iraqi government, according to the source.
The federal government retook control of Kirkuk and other disputed areas claimed by both Baghdad and Erbil from the Kurdish forces in October 2017 in the wake of the independence referendum. Since then, security has been run by the Iraqi forces and Hashid al-Shaabi.
