SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Several rockets were fired toward a Turkish military base in Sheikhan district in Duhok province on Sunday night, a local official said.

Mayor of Sheikhan District Sardar Yahia told Esta Media Network that six rockets fired toward Zelkan base where Turkish troops are based in the district at 11:30 p.m. on Sunday.

“There were no casualties,” Yahia said, noting that the rockets fell in an area between Zelkan sub-district and Bashiqa.

“The direction of the rockets were in Mosul, in areas under the control of Hashid al-Shaabi and they are responsible for the attack,” he added, referring to the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF).

It was the first rocket attack on the Turkish base in 2022. There were five more attacks on the base last year, killing one civilian and wounding several Turkish soldiers, according to the official.
