SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Sulaimani International Airport said on Monday its police had detained seven people who wanted to travel to Germany using “fake Schengen visa”.

In a statement, the airport said its employees detained seven tourists, including five Iraqis and two Iranians, for forging Schengen visa to Germany.

“They wanted to travel to Germany through Beirut,” the airport said.

The seven tourists were handed over to the airport’s police station for investigations, it added.

In June, the airport’s police detained a group of 24 tourists who were attempting to travel to Germany using “fake documents”.

The airport seized 47 forged documents, including passports and visas, in 2020, according to authorities.
