SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Officials from the politburos of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) and the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) met in Sulaimani on Sunday.
A delegation from the KDP politburo visited the PUK in Sulaimani, where Bafel Jalal Talabani welcomed the KDP officials.
The two sides discussed the political situation in Iraq and the circumstance after the October election as well as Kurdish entitlements and the unification of Kurdistan’s efforts, they said in a joint statement.
Both parties agreed to support the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) to resolve issues, including salaries and financial entitlements of Kurdistan’s people as well as students’ stipends, the statement read.
Regarding threats on security, the PUK and KDP said coordination “is needed between both sides as part of confronting dangers on the land and Kurdistan’s people in the area,” the statement said.
They also decided to find a “necessary mechanism to secure a balanced environment and unity” between the two sides and other political parties so as to develop bilateral relations, according to the statement.
