Kurdistan Region logs 997 new coronavirus cases, 33 deaths

SULAIMANI (ESTA) — The Kurdistan Region recorded 997 new cases of the novel coronavirus and 33 deaths on Friday, said the health ministry.

The Region’s Ministry of Health said in a statement that it had registered 342 cases in Erbil, 159 in Sulaimani, 406 in Duhok, 20 in Halabja, 40 in Garmian and 30 in Raparin.

The ministry further said it had logged seven deaths in Erbil, 11 in Sulaimani, six in Duhok, four in Halabja, two in Garmian and three others in Raparin.

As many as 430 more patients had recovered from COVID-19 in the past 24 hours, the health ministry added.

The Region’s total number of coronavirus infections reached 82,605, of which 2,616 died and 51,680 recovered, according to the health ministry.
