SULAIMANI (ESTA) — A government delegation from the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) will visit Baghdad on Sunday for talks on federal budget for 2021, a Kurdish official said on Saturday.

Head of KRG representative office Faris Issa told Esta Media Network that the delegation led by Minister of Finance and Economy Awat Sheikh Janab will meet members of the Iraqi parliament’s committee of finance during its visit to the Iraqi capital.

The delegation will discuss the Region’s share of the federal budget for fiscal year 2021 with the committee of finance, Issa said.

On Thursday, KRG minister of planning Dara Rashid told reporters that a KRG delegation and a political delegation led by deputy leader of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) would visit Baghdad on Saturday.

“We hope we can reach an agreement with the federal government over the handover of 250,000 barrels of oil per day and 50% of internal revenue in exchange for the Region’s share of the federal budget,” Rashid said.

KRG Deputy Prime Minister Qubad Talabani who led a high-level delegation to Baghdad said in December that Erbil and Baghdad had reached an agreement over the 2021 federal budget bill, approved by the Iraqi Council of Ministers in the same month.

The draft budget law commits the Kurdistan Region to export 250,000 bpd through Baghdad in exchange for the Region’s share of the federal budget, which is set at 12.67%.

Talabani also said in December that the KRG would export 250,000 bpd through Baghdad once the federal budget was adopted by the Iraqi Council of Representatives.
