Kurdistan Region’s COVID-19 cases exceed 80,000: health ministry

SULAIMANI (ESTA) — The Kurdistan Region’s coronavirus cases surged past 80,000 on Wednesday, according to the health ministry.

In a statement, the Kurdistan Region’s health ministry said it had recorded 962 new cases in the past 24 hours.

The ministry further said it had registered 392 cases in Erbil, 197 in Sulaimani, 283 in Duhok, 16 in Halabja, 58 in Garmian and 16 in Raparin.

It added that 28 more patients had died from the virus in the previous 24 hours, while 404 others had recovered.

The Region’s total number of coronavirus infections reached 80,413, of which 2,560 died and 50,698 recovered.
