PUK politburo approves decisions to expel Lahur Jangi, party members

SULAIMANI (ESTA) — The Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) Politburo has approved decisions by Co-President Bafel Talabani to expel Lahur Jangi Burhan and three other members of the party’s leadership, according to a source in the party.

A senior PUK source said on Tuesday that former co-leader Lahur Jangi Burhan and members of the PUK leadership Shadman Mala Hassan, Alla Tahsin Habib, Zhino Mohammed and Aras Jangi Burhan had been expelled from the party.

On Friday, a source in the PUK politburo told Esta Media Network that members of the political bureau approved the decisions to expel Lahur Jangi, Zhino, Shadman and Alla, during a meeting chaired by co-president Talabani.

The PUK politburo also decided to suspend Aras Jangi Burhan for six months, according to the source.

“In the meeting of the PUK politburo, chaired by Bafel Talabani, the decisions were unanimously approved after the end of the plea period, and all decisions were finalized in accordance with the PUK’s by-laws,” said the source, who spoke under condition of anonymity.
