PUK President calls for reorganization of Kurdistan-Baghdad relations

SULAIMANI (ESTA) — The Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) President, Bafel Talabani, on Sunday met with the head of al-Azm alliance, Muthana al-Samarai in Baghdad, according to a statement.

The President discussed the latest political developments in a meeting with Samarai in the Iraqi capital which was also attended by a member of the PUK leadership council, Hazhar Hassan Kwestani, a statement from Talabani’s media office read.

The sides stressed the implementation of the government agenda in the frame of the constitution, and in a manner that serves all Iraqi people, the statement added.

Speaking about the political parties’ unity and persisting the discussions Talabani said that “We completely reject injustice and discrimination.”

Talabani also called for the reorganization of the relations between the Kurdistan Region and Baghdad, according to the statement.

“We want the relations between the Region and Baghdad to be reorganized again so that the people will not be the victim of the political disputes,” and “Collectively step toward a brighter future, fulfilling the high objectives,” said the President.
