KRG condemns ‘terrorist’ attack against its oil pipeline

SULAIMANI (ESTA) — The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) on Friday strongly denounced an attack against the Region’s oil pipeline, causing suspension of oil exports.

The KRG said in a statement that the Kurdistan Region’s oil exportation pipeline was targeted on Wednesday, without providing details about the location of the attack.

“The KRG strongly condemns the terrorist act of targeting the Kurdistan Region’s oil exportation pipeline,” the Kurdish government said.

“The KRG … believes these acts further escalate the situation in the [Kurdistan] Region and the region,” it added.

“It will never allow threats against its interests and the income of the people of Kurdistan.”

On Thursday, The People’s Defense Forces (HPG) said in a statement that its fighters carried out a “successful sabotage action” targeting Botash oil pipeline passing through Bagok region in Mardin on Wednesday.

“As a result of this action, the pipeline at the site was completely destroyed,” it said.
