Iraq registers 2,878 new coronavirus cases in 24 hours

SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Iraq has recorded 2,878 new coronavirus cases and 47 deaths in the previous 24 hours, the ministry of health said on Friday.

The ministry said in a statement that 897 new cases were in Baghdad, 427 in Erbil, 331 in Duhok, 244 in Sulaimani, 168 in Basra, 117 in Wasit, 116 in Saladin and 107 in Diyala.

The health ministry further said 96 cases were in Kirkuk, 88 in Nineveh, 70 in Maysan, 48 in Anbar, 38 in Najaf, 36 in Babil, 32 in Muthanna, 31 in Diwaniyah, 20 in Karbala and 12 in Dhi Qar.

It added that 2,855 patients had also recovered from the novel coronavirus.

So far, Iraq has recorded 470,633 COVID-19 cases, with 10,862 deaths and 397,241 recoveries.
