SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Iraqi security forces detained a “dangerous terrorist” in Kirkuk province, the security media cell said on Wednesday (October 28).

Iraqi Security Media Cell said in a statement that the security forces arrested an Islamic State (ISIS) militant who worked as a “dangerous intelligence” for the group.

Iraqi intelligence units also detained two ISIS members who worked to provide “logistic support” for the militant group in Kirkuk.

Iraqi forces have stepped up efforts to detain ISIS militants in the provinces of Kirkuk, Saladin, Anbar and Baghdad. The security forces have detained and killed dozens of ISIS members in the past weeks.

Iraq declared victory over Islamic State in December 2017 but the militants have regrouped in the Hamrin mountain range which extends into the northern provinces – an area described by officials as a “triangle of death”.
