Kurdistan Region logs 1,297 new coronavirus cases, 27 deaths

SULAIMANI (ESTA) — The Kurdistan Region recorded 1,297 new cases of the novel coronavirus and 27 deaths on Wednesday, according to the health ministry.

In a statement, the Region’s health ministry said 596 cases were in Erbil, 153 in Sulaimani, 458 in Duhok, 33 in Halabja, 38 in Garmian and 19 in Raparin.

The ministry further said six new deaths were registered in Erbil, eight in Sulaimani, seven in Duhok, one in Halabja, two in Garmian and three in Raparin.

As many as 664 more patients had recovered from COVID-19 in the past 24 hours, the ministry added.

The Region’s total number of infections reached 73,049, of which 2,388 died and 41,573 recovered, the ministry’s figures showed.
