Business owner says he had been ‘assaulted’ by KDP military commander

SULAIMANI (ESTA) — A doctor living in Kurdistan Region’s Duhok who is also a business owner said Thursday that he had been “assaulted” by a military commander of the Kurdistan Democratic and (KDP). 

The doctor, Nawzad Salih revealed, “Badal Bandi, a military commander of the KDP had assaulted me several times and extorted money,” he said told reporters in Erbil in a press conference, standing before Erbil’s court building.

“During the past two days, the KDP military commander had attacked my own house as well as my father’s. We went to file a lawsuit at the police station, however, they told me to handle the problem by myself,” Salih added.

Salih owns a business apart from being a doctor, he owns a private electricity generator in one of the Duhok’s neighborhoods, which lucrative business in the Kurdistan Region that provides electricity for locals in exchange for cash.

According to Salih’s words, the KDP military commander had “Assaulted” him as well at his own business site, physically beating Salih with 15 of the commander’s guards.

The Duhok security forces have attempted to arrest Salih following the event, he said, adding, “They arrested my brother [Azad Salih] whose fate remained unclear so far.”

He also stated that he has fled from Duhok to Erbil, trying to get rid of being arrested by the Duhok security forces.
