Kurdistan president meets Turkish trade minister in Erbil

SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani on Sunday met with Turkish minister of trade Mehmet Mus in Erbil, stressing “desire” to develop trade and economic ties between the Region and Turkey. 

Barzani and Mus discussed trade exchanges between the Kurdistan Region, Iraq and Turkey and efforts to improve them during the meeting, the Kurdistan Region presidency said in a statement.

The Kurdish president considered economic and trade ties of the Kurdistan Region with Turkey as important and strategic, the statement read.

He also expressed the Kurdistan Region’s readiness to facilitate Turkish trade with the Kurdistan Region and Iraq, according to the statement.

The Turkish minister, for his part, reaffirmed Turkey’s “desire to develop trade relations and economic activities” in the Kurdistan Region, the Region’s presidency cited him as saying.
