SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Turkey bombed a refugee camp in Makhmour, southwest of Erbil, early on Friday, Esta’s reporter said.
Turkish warplanes launched an airstrike on a site in Rostam Judi refugee camp in Makhmour at 8:30 a.m. on Friday.
Casualties remained unclear.
The camp was established in the 1990s when thousands of Kurds from Turkey crossed the border in a movement Ankara says was deliberately provoked by the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK).
Turkey has stepped up operations against the PKK inside Iraq, establishing military bases and deploying armed drones against the fighters in their mountain strongholds.
On Thursday night, Turkey bombed an Asayish security center belonging to the Yazidis in Sinjar.
There were no reports of casualties.
