SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kadhimi met with his British counterpart Boris Johnson in London on Thursday to discuss cooperation between both countries.
Kadhimi who arrived in London on Tuesday night discussed issues of common interest with Johnson during the meeting, according to his press office.
Both sides reviewed “the overall developments and political and security stance in Iraq and the region, and developing bilateral relations between the two countries in a way that serves peace and regional stability,” Kadhimi’s office said in a statement.
Kadhimi and Johnson agreed to further cooperate in field of fighting terrorism, the statement read.
“It was agreed on more cooperation between Baghdad and London … and on moving forward for strategic cooperation between Iraq and the United Kingdom,” the statement said.
Kadhimi also visited France and Germany this week where he met with French President Emmanuel Macron and Prime Minister Jean Castex and German Chancellor Angela Merkel.
