SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Four civilians were killed in an attack carried out by Islamic State (ISIS) militants in west of Anbar late on Friday, a local official said.

ISIS militants attacked a group of fishermen near Haditha dam in Anbar province from five directions, Shafaq News cited mayor Mabrouk al-Jaghifi as saying.

Five other fishermen were wounded in the attack, he added.

National Iraqi News Agency (NINA) said three others were injured after the militants attacked tents of the fishermen in al-Zarka area in the district.

The federal government announced victory over ISIS by the end of 2017 after Iraqi and Kurdish forces backed by U.S.-led Coalition regained control of areas once captured by the militant group.

Despite its defeat, ISIS still poses a threat to the security and stability of the country as there are still sleeper cells in Iraq.
