SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Two rockets landed in Iraq’s Balad air base that houses U.S. contractors on Sunday, the commander of the base said.
Major General Zya Mohsen told state news agency INA that two members of the Iraqi security forces were wounded in the rocket attack.
“One of them is seriously wounded, while the other’s injury is slight,” Mohsen said.
Earlier, Iraqi security officials told Reuters that at least five Katyusha rockets had fallen on the area of the base that houses U.S. contractors, and that no casualties had been reported so far.
No group immediately claimed the attack, but armed groups that some Iraqi officials say are backed by Iran have claimed similar incidents in the past.
