SULAIMANI (ESTA) — The 23rd Galawezh International Festival kicked off in Sulaimani city on Sunday (September 20), with attendance of a number of authors and academics.
The festival is a cultural and literary activity held in Sulaimani city every year to award a number of authors, poets and academicians.
This year’s festival which lasts two days is held at Azad Hawrami Hall in Sulaimani.
At least 11 poems and nine stories are competing to wind awards during the two-day festival. Up to eight researches have also been accepted for presenting.
The festival held under the slogan of “Aso Shines”. Aso Omer Swara was a member of Supreme Board of Galawezh Center.
Most of the activities will be carried out virtually due to the coronavirus pandemic, according to Esta Media Network reporter Bzhar Dabakh.
The festival has been held by Galawezh Cultural Center since 1996. It is named after a literary magazine ‘Galawezh’, which had been issued by renowned Kurdish writer Ibrahim Ahmed during the 1940s in Baghdad, according to the cultural center.
