Deputy Prime Minister reiterates his efforts to diversify Kurdistan’s economy

SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Deputy Prime Minister Qubad Talabani reiterated his efforts to diversify the economy amid a meeting with the Spanish Ambassador to Iraq on Tuesday.

The Deputy Prime Minister received Ambassador Pedro Martinez, highlighting projects that foster ties between the KRG and Spain in the fields of tourism and agriculture, his press office read in a statement.

In the meantime, the Deputy Prime Minister offered his support to the Spanish that seek investment in the Kurdistan Region, according to the statement.

“We are continuing on our plans to diversify the Kurdistan Region’s economy,” the Deputy Prime Minister said.

“The KRG is ready to offer assistance to any Spanish companies which seek investments in the tourism and agriculture sector of the Kurdistan Region,” the Deputy Prime Minister added.

The statement further added that Spain will hire an advisor specialized in the tourism sector to the Council of Ministers, aiming at offering support to the KRG.

Dozens of tourism projects are currently in the stage of assessment and feasibility. They are expected to begin construction in nearby further, the statement concluded.
