SULAIMANI (ESTA) — The Mayor of Rawandiz survived an assassination attempt on Wednesday night in Bargwan village of Soran district.
Rawandiz Mayor Ahmed Qadir escaped a shooting by several unknown gunmen while he was attended at a funeral.
The Mayor escaped unharmed at the scene.
Soran police on Thursday claimed three suspects in connection to the incident have surrendered to the law.
The motive for the attackers to target the mayor has remained unclear.
There are claims that the incident was a tit-for-tat move by the attackers and related to an old-rooted feud.
