SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Iraq’s Prime Minister on Friday called on Turkey and Iran to respect the sovereignty of his country amid delivering remarks at the Chinese-Arab summit in Saudi Arabia.
Recently, both Iran and Turkey have ramped up aerial attacks on the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, targeting bases of Kurdish militant groups that Ankara and Teheran regard as terrorists.
“We deny the assault on our country, and all sides must respect Iraq’s sovereignty,” said Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Sudani regarding the attacks.
Sudani as an Arab leader partook in the first China-Arab States Summit which was held on Friday in the presence of Chinese President Xi Jinping and more than 10 Arab leaders in the Saudi capital of Riyadh.
Amid making remarks ahead of the summit the Prime Minister invited the participant countries of the summit for economic cooperation with Iraq. He also reiterated support for strengthening Arab ties with China.
