SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Hungary supports “democracy solutions” and stands against violence and terrorism, said the Hungarian President in Erbil on Friday amid a two-day long visit to the Kurdistan Region.
Hungarian President Katalin Novak arrived in the Kurdistan Region capital, Erbil, on Friday, where she was received by the Region President Nechirvan Barzani. They were later met.
Novak amid an inaugural ceremony of a school in Erbil’s Ankawa district which was built on the fund of the Hungarian government delivered a speech about the Region.
“The Kurdistan Region is not alone,” said the Hungarian President, adding that they will continue to support the Region, while looking to offer further support, according to her words.
She also reiterated that Hungary supports “democracy solutions,” and it condemns violence as well as terrorism, and she highlighted the presence of Hungarian forces in the country.
Speaking about woman’s situation in the Region’s politics, the Hungarian President wished women to achieve power, and step into politics.
Novak’s land in Erbil marked the first-ever such a visit from a senior Hungarian official to the Region.
It is worth mentioning that prior to Erbil Novak was in the Iraqi capital, Baghdad, just a few hours before she flew to Erbil on the same day, where she met Iraqi President Latif Rashid.
The two presidents discussed strengthening the ties between the two countries, and expanding their collaborations, according to Iraqi Media.
