SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Israel on Thursday carried out airstrikes on Syria’s government facilities, and airports, targeting the capital and Aleppo city around 1700 GMT, Syria’s state news agency reported.
Israeli airstrikes in Syria near the capital Damascus and on Aleppo’s international airport reported, according to state news agency SANA, and the country’s foreign minister following the attack said, “Israel was playing with fire.”
“Israel is playing with fire and is putting the regional military and security situations at risk of an explosion,” the agency reported him as saying.
“Syria will not remain silent regarding the repeated Israeli attacks and the Israelis will pay the price sooner or later.” He said.
The strikes did only result in material damage only whilst Syria’s air defenses managed to shot down a number of Israeli missiles around the capital, SANA said.
There was no immediate comment from Israeli officials.
Israel has increased its attacks on sites in Syria that allegedly convoys or stores weapons belonging to allied fighters from Iran in recent years.
In June, Damascus international airport was out of service for several weeks after the Syrian government said it was hit by aerial attacks that were carried out by Israel.
Meanwhile, the officials from the Israeli defense system say the civilian airport has been used regularly by Iran to transport weapons and militias.
