Kurdistan Region’s COVID-19 cases surges past 97,000

SULAIMANI (ESTA) — The Kurdistan Region’s coronavirus cases shot past 97,000 on Tuesday, the health ministry said in a statement.

The Region’s ministry of health said it had recorded 389 new cases from COVID-19 in the past 24 hours, bringing the total number to 97,005.

As many as 91 cases were in Erbil, 93 in Sulaimani, 170 in Duhok, 14 in Halabja, 20 in Garmian and one in Raparin, the health ministry stated.

The ministry added that 23 more patients had died from the virus in the previous 24 hours, while 325 others had died.

The Region’s health ministry said five deaths were registered in Erbil, 10 in Sulaimani, five in Duhok and three in Halabja, Garmian and Raparin.

The Kurdistan Region’s death toll rose to 3,169, while the total number of recoveries reached 60,688, according to the ministry’s figures.
