SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Iraq’s foreign ministry spokesperson Ahmed al-Sahf told the Iraqi state news agency on Saturday that its ministry decided to bring the Iraqi charge d’affaires in Ankara to Baghdad.
Following Wednesday’s Turkish artilleries deadly bombing on a resort in the Kurdistan Region city of Zakho, the foreign ministry has taken several swift measures to respond to Turkey’s constant aggressions on the Kurdistan Region.
INA cited the spokesperson as saying that the ministry decided to bring the Iraqi charge d’affaires in Ankara to Baghdad.
It also submitted a complaint to the Security Council to hold an emergency session on Turkish aggression, according to INA.
“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs sent a letter of complaint to the Security Council and requested it to hold an emergency session to discuss the Turkish aggression,” Sahaf said.
Regarding the Turkish presence inside Iraq’s soil, the spokesperson stressed that no deal concerning security has ever been made in order to give Turkey that right to breach Iraq’s borders.
“The ministry renews the public opinion’s briefing that there is no security and military agreement with Turkey” he added.
Earlier on Wednesday, the Turkish artilleries targeted a touristic site in Zakho, northwest of the Kurdistan Region.
The Kurdistan Region health ministry confirmed, that 34 tourists were killed and injured due to the attack right after the horrible incident.
Turkey regularly launches strikes deep into the Kurdistan Region territory, saying its attacks aim to eliminate the Kurdistan Worker’s Party (PKK) positions which are mainly based on the Region’s soil.
However, the attacks endangered the lives of many civilians as it seems that most of the victims are civilians rather than combatants.
