Turkey ‘neutralized’ senior PKK member in Sulaimani province – Anadolu

SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Turkey has “neutralized” a senior Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) member in northwest of Sulaimani, state news agency Anadolu reported on Thursday.

Anadolu cited security sources as saying that the Turkish National Intelligence Organization (MIT) “neutralized” Mehmet Dogan in an operation in Sulaimani province.

Dogan, code named “Dihaz Gabar”, was responsible for the PKK’s Kirkuk front in Chamchamal, according to Anadolu Agency.

On May 21, five people including three PKK fighters and two civilians were killed in Turkish drone strikes on Tutaqal village in Chamchamal district.

Turkey has recently increased air strikes against PKK targets in the Kurdistan Region.

Anadolu reported that Turkey’s MIT had recently “neutralized” Mehmet Erdogan, code named “Ahmet Rubar”, a senior PKK member.

The PKK has yet to confirm the report.

Turkey uses “neutralize” term for targets who have been killed or wounded.
