SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Dozens of mini bus drivers on Saturday protested in Sulaimani city against high petrol prices in the Kurdistan Region.
Esta Media Network reporter said the mini bus drivers in Sulaimani had gathered in Hawari Shar neighborhood to protest against the increase of petrol prices.
One liter of “regular” gasoline in the patrol stations is sold at 900 dinars (62 cents), up 50 dinars. One liter of “supreme” gasoline price is at 1,075 dinars.
“We will hold larger protests if the government doesn’t help us and doesn’t reduce the petrol price,” a mini bus driver told Esta Media Network.
The drivers have temporarily suspended public transport, according to the reporter.
There was no immediate comment from authorities in the Kurdistan Region.
