SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Iran has no plans to enrich uranium beyond 60 percent if nuclear talks in Vienna fail, according to an Iranian official.
Head of Iran’s Atomic Energy Organization director Mohammad Eslami said the enrichment levels were related to the needs of the country, according to AFP.
“Our targets related to enriching uranium are meeting our industrial and production levels… and those of our people,” Eslami was quoted as saying on Saturday.
Asked whether Iran plans to enrich beyond 60 percent purity if the talks fail, he said: “No”, AFP reported.
Talks to salvage the 2015 nuclear deal will resume on Monday, Reuters cited two parties to the talks as saying.
“Participants will continue the discussions on the prospect of a possible return of the United States to the JCPOA and how to ensure the full and effective implementation of the agreement by all sides,” EU’s foreign service said.
U.S. negotiator Rob Malley on Tuesday warned of a “period of escalating crisis” of diplomacy failed to restore the agreement, AFP reported.
