Iraq registers 2,554 new COVID-19 infections and 55 deaths

SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Iraqi Ministry of Health said on Sunday that it had recorded 2,554 new infections of the novel coronavirus and 55 deaths in the previous 24 hours.

In a statement, the ministry of health said 716 new cases in Baghdad, 331 in Erbil, 322 in Duhok, 175 in Sulaimani, 156 in Kirkuk, 134 in Wasit, 127 in Nineveh and 119 in Diyala.

The ministry further said it had recorded 77 other cases in Saladin, 69 in Maysan, 67 in Babil, 43 in Basra, 43 others in Muthanna, 38 in Najaf, 37 in Anbar, 36 in Karbala, 36 more in Dhi Qar and 28 in Diwaniyah.

It added that 3,140 more patients had recovered from the virus in the past 24 hours.

Iraq’s total number of coronavirus cases reached 451,707, of which 10,623 died and 381,349 recovered, according to the ministry’s figures.
