SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Iraqi forces detained two Islamic State (ISIS) members in Baghdad, the intelligence agency said on Sunday.

Iraq’s Intelligence Service said in a statement that its forces carried out two separate raids to arrest the two ISIS “terrorists” in Mansour and Dora areas in Baghdad.

The two were wanted in accordance with Article 4 of Iraqi anti-terrorism law, the agency added.

Iraqi forces have stepped up efforts to detain ISIS militants in the provinces of Kirkuk, Saladin, Anbar and Baghdad. The security forces have detained and killed dozens of ISIS militants in the past weeks.

Iraq declared victory over Islamic State in December 2017 but the militants have regrouped in the Hamrin mountain range which extends into the northern provinces – an area described by officials as a “triangle of death”.
